On June 30, 2023, an evening dedicated to Hungarian culture will take place in Vodice. The event, jointly organized by the Vodice City Library and the Prince Branimir Square (Trg kneza Branimira), promises an exciting mix of music and art.
The festivities will begin at 19:00 at the Vodice City Library with the opening of the "LUKA" exhibition. The exhibit is the product of the creative workshop of Charlotte Lavanda from Prvić Luka and will be curated by Roberta Faltis.
As the sun sets, the celebration will move to Prince Branimir Square (locally known as Đardin) at 21:00 for a concert by the Hungarian band Söndörgő. Renowned for their blend of traditional music, classical compositions, rock energy, and the purity of Bartók's thinking, Söndörgő are considered one of the most exciting, innovative, and successful bands in the international world music scene. Their signature sound is characterized by the tambourine, various wind instruments, and the accordion.
Their 2014 album "Tamburocket" received international acclaim, topping European world music radio charts and being named the third best world music album of the year. It was also chosen as Album of the Year by Songlines and fRoots, two prominent English world music magazines. Despite their diverse influences, Söndörgő primarily play traditional South Slavic music. They approach traditional music not as a museum piece to be reconstructed, but as a living, pulsating source of inspiration.
